About George J. Taylor

Physician • Author • Educator

George J. Taylor, M.D. is a physician, medical researcher, and educator dedicated to helping patients and families navigate serious illness with clarity and compassion.

During a career spanning cardiovascular medicine and palliative care, Dr. Taylor cared for thousands of patients while teaching medical students and young physicians. He served as Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and has authored more than ninety scientific publications and textbooks, including A Clinician's Guide to Palliative Care (2003).

His newest book, A Caregiver's Guide to Palliative Medicine, translates complex medical issues into clear, practical guidance for family caregivers. Throughout his career, Dr. Taylor has seen that informed caregivers become more confident partners in care—and that knowledge, presented with compassion, can ease one of life's most difficult journeys.

Dr. Taylor lives with his wife in coastal South Carolina. Education has been a family calling; their three sons are teachers. He is an avid gardener, and enjoys writing about medicine, caregiving, and healthy aging.

He hopes this book will help families navigate serious illness with greater understanding, confidence and peace of mind.
